Foto Contest Aliases

Since every one knows their nickname by now and the cards are to every one but, like, three people I think, I decided to release all the names.

Listed below are the names that I chose for aliases. You will not ever see, by me, that person’s real identity. If they want to call themselves out, then that’s fine. But I won’t do it.

I’d like the anonomity to stay for a while, actually. So if you could all refrain from telling people your aliases for a while? That would be great. Just because it makes it ooooooooooo more mysterious that way.

Haven't done this for a while so I figured it was about time. Just a little snippet of what I'm working on for the last update to Freaky Temptation 2 before the NaNo.

!! Feisty's Foto Contest Update !!

All but one card have been sent out! You will receive the riddles on Monday morning when I wake up. :P Or perhaps Monday morning before I go to bed. Depending on my schedule and if I'm up past midnight PST.

Wait! Of course I will be. The first couple words of the NaNo always have to be written at 12:00:01am on November 1st!

I'm so excited for the NaNo but I completely forgot about it since the photo contest took over my brain.

A little note about the contest:

If you can't find an item, you can improvise. Remember, I give points for creativity. If you have to "make" something out of something, please... go ahead and do so. :) Point values will be on the riddles when you receive them.

Hope everyone's excited or at least looking forward to it!! I can't wait to start receiving your pictures!!! :)

I have a little under half of the riddles to write.

Also, someone had to drop out which made us only 20 strong. However! Another person joined late! So we have 21 again :)

Story Update :)

I sorta kinda have the house to myself tonight. Well, Savannah and I will have a little bit of a "Girls' Night" and then she'll get cranky and want to go to bed. After that, I belong to Word. :) Word and I will cook up a little something extra special for every one tonight. lol

I'll be emailing and posting on the board. Even if it's not that long of an update, it will be something. It's been too long since I've written anything. Be on the look out for that soon; either in your inbox or on the board.

I miss Freaky 2 and I only have 8 more days to fulfill the promise that I made to update twice before the NaNo. I promise that the updates will be worth it.

Also, I fished a bit on Twitter about another special guest appearance by someone. Yeah, what? I had tossed that idea around before because I love the banter that could be had. I come from a family of trash talkers (we do it out of love) so I'm pretty sure it will be fuckin' fun to write. It seems every one in the story likes to do a little bit of trash talking with Joe but no one is going to come close to this dude. It'll be cool. He'll make an appearance a little later in the story. So much to get through first.

Gotta get through Cruise 2010 *AHkerriEM*, hire a wedding planner *AHjenEM*, set up the swing, get through summer, use a ***** on **** and have ***** r** a*a* **** .....

WHOA! Something happened with my keyboard. Sorry guys. I guess blogspot doesn't support spoilers ;)

And trust me, the break because of the NaNo will be worth it. You'll be occupied with the contest plus reading the NaNo. I selected "pre-readers" for the NaNo. I will be posting it on the board for every one to read but I want to have a little group of people get to it first. :) I'll post on here and/or on Twitter when I start to update the board with that story.

The email that phished for your physical addresses has gone out.

All but two cards are completed and there will be more than half of them going out this afternoon. After I get them all sent I can work on the riddles a little bit.

Of course, my working time for this is going to be interrupted on THURSDAY because I just have to go up to San Francisco, you know? Dreading it.

• All cards have been designed. Nine are about 65% complete, 12 are about 25% complete. ;)
• The backs of the cards have been made yet not assigned.
• 15 out of 31 riddles have been produced! (It's harder than you think!)
• The riddles are kinda easy to figure out but that's not the point. The point is to have fun. Oh, and they rhyme like actual factual riddles!

“Which is typical,” Joe sniffed.

“Okay, first? You’re wrong. You’re usually the one talking and I’m usually the one playing my favorite scenes from Weekend At Bernie’s over and over in my mind.”

“You really do that, don’t you?”

Of *course* I can't leave it there!

I vent, something reminds me of why I write, I get over it.

I have to learn how to handle criticism better. I guess I was never one for compliments either since I never really received them much. Nothing I've ever done was really praised as being fantastic. Probably because nothing I've ever done has been really worthy of any one's time. I mean, except for my kids, I've never really created anything that anyone has liked so much as they do my writing. And with kids? I mean, what did I do other than get my jollies, get pregnant and have a human being? They're cool and all but when it came to making them, it was kinda simple, really.

When it comes to my writing, I'm protective. That means compliments and criticism are taken so much to hear thtat it kinda drives me crazy. If I don't get the reaction that I want (which I'll be honest, it's rare that I don't) I start to kinda freak out a little bit. I want to please people.

I have to remember why I started writing in the first place. It was joke. Yep! Every thing was a joke. Why do I continue to do it? Because I'm invested in a story that's 2 years in the making almost and I want to finish it. It has an ending, damn it! And I'm going to get to it at the end of Freaky Temptation 2. And not only is it an investment that I want to finish... I like writing!!

That being said, I will forever criticize my own work. I will forever doubt myself. I will go on these little tantrums where I want to delete every thing that I've ever written. There have been times that I have done exactly that but thanks to a friend who believed in me, things were saved. I pick up where I left off and I run with it.

Now, I was just saying that I wanted to delete a part of a chapter. Jesus! It wasn't even an entire chapter. And I think that's progress. It didn't come down to me deleteing all four parts, plus the prep for this year's NaNo and including every thing from last year's NaNo. :) Just part of a chapter. And as always- empty threats. Yeah. I'm drama when it comes to myself and holy CRAP when did it become 9:35pm? I guess in that time I took to try to play this damn Star Wars game with my kiddo. LOL :)

I thought I was happy with the update that I posted/sent out last night. I really thought it was going to go over well.

I guess I made a mistake. We're all human. I'll rewrite it eventually and send out another update. It won't stand as what it is now. The only problem is it's a big slap in the face with whatever is the opposite of motivation. I didn't mean to make it suck. I didn't mean to make it confusing. I didn't mean to make it non-interesting. I was bringing something back that I thought would be fun.

I failed. I'm human. I erred, right? We all do that.

The enxt update probably won't come before December 5th because I'm so upset that it went over so poorly. I'm sorry. :(

On a serious note and not story related

I walk to keep my friends HIV negative.

I've never lost anyone to AIDS. I've never known anyone (that I know of) that was HIV positive. I'd like every single one of my friends to remain aware and healthy. I walk for you :)

Even though no one that I know of has suffered or is suffering from AIDS, I do know MANY people affected by it. I also walk for them.

So many reasons why I walk. For my family, for my friends, for coworkers, for my children, for myself...

Since I've written two pages for the next part of Chapter 14, I thought I'd share a little from page one. Hope you don't mind?

Kristi snapped her head sideways to look at him, “I thought you knew! I thought that’s why you were saying THEY!” He can’t possibly know who else was there.

“N-no, well. I-I-I knew someone else, ya know, I thought that someone else- you smelled like-.”

“Cloves,” she whispered.

“And I was thinking if one was there then the other must be too.”

“Both of them were there,” she nodded into her pillow. “You have no idea how degrading it was.”

“Baby, why didn’t you run.”

“Degrading… it… was. Until I fuckin’ took control.”

When she turned her head towards Joe, he could see that she was smiling at him. The sly smile that told him she was up to something; whether it be a fake spider in the bathtub or new lingerie, he knew her gears were turning when she smiled like that.

!! Feisty's Foto Contest Update !!

Hi!

First, let me reiterate. You are playing this game for a prize. The prize is a Freaky Temptation (book one of The Freaky Saga) printed and bound manuscript. The manuscript will be bound however the winner likes (eg: tape, coil, metal coil) and will be mailed to them soon after the winner is announced.

The winner will be announced December 13, 2010.

BASIC INFO

On Oct 18th, you will receive an email from feistytales@gmail.com that asks for your HOME address. Since you are playing for a printed and bound copy of the manuscript, if you win, you will need to provide your address anyway. I won't stalk you. I don't really care how you pick your nose on your couch or what you do in your kitchen at 2am.

When you send an email that includes your address, you will (hopefully instantly), receive an email that includes ONLY your alias. It may be one or two words. 3 to 5 days after that, you will receive an index card in the mail from ME! This card must be seen in every photo that you enter! The reason? So you can't steal from someone else or use something you found from the intrawebz.

On Nov 1, 2010 you will receive an email from feistytales@gmail.com containing 30 questions. The answer to those questions are the items that you must photograph, with your index card, and send to me. You need to have read the story to know the answers to these questions.

When sending the picture of the clue item, you must put the answer in the subject line or body of the email. If you got the answer to the question wrong, I'll probably reply with a "WTF is that?". This is why it's better to submit the photos as you go instead of all at once. If you have any re-do's you'll have the time to do it!

SCORING

  Each clue will be worth a set number of points. If you answer the question and don't send a picture, you will get credit for a correct answer (1 pt for each correct answer)

  If your photo is correct then you will receive additional points.
• 
  
  There will be up to 3 bonus points awarded if I find the photo creative.
• 
  
  Additional Photos - If you find something that was used in the story and it is not on the list, send it with a question of your own! If I think it's awesome, you may earn yourself more points!
• 
  
  Name brand specific items - Some items that were chosen for the story are of a certain brand. Send what you can of the item and forget the name brand. I understand we have different availability here in Cali and the US than some other states and countries. However, if you DO find the name brand item and you can prove that it is that brand, you will earn additional points.

ALIASES

  Weekly, I will post scores for those that have submitted photos. I will use your alias. It is up to you to say "WOO HOO, I'm in the lead." But then you're exposed and your alias is busted. This doesn't disqualify you but it calls you out. Sometimes it's fun to have a secret :P
• 
  
  If I receive a picture that I think is extra awesome and feel that it deserves exposure, I will post it on the blog. The alias will be shown in the picture, obviously, so if you say "THAT'S MINE!", remember, you just outed yourself.
• 
  
  By participating in this contest you give up the right to say, "I took that photo, you can't post it!"
