* Feisty's Foto Contest Update *

We're winding down the year and that means that we're going to be winding down this contest. I extended it a month and even though the additional response was small it still boosted other people's scores.

Now, there are still ways to up your score. Read on! 

You'll get a few extra points if on Friday you send me a picture of a birthday cake JUST for Joe! You have to include your alias card. You'll get points and believe me it'll be worth your time! (This can be any dessert, really. Cupcakes, pie, ice cream, a full blown cake - you'll get points based on how much effort you put into it. I don't expect a masterpiece here. Just a way to up your score.)

The quote on the back of the card is worth points too. Please email me the quote, who said it, in what story and what the significance of the quote meant. Most of them have a story behind them. Just briefly tell me what the scenario was and if/how it changed the story or not. No essays lol just a few lines of text. Sign the email with your alias. Points will be based on accuracy. Happy Holidays, Feisty Foto Contestants

Okay, so maybe November is the wrong month to start a contest. lol :) But that was what was convenient for me.

There is no way that I'm going to be able to edit and make Freaky Temptation perfect for the winner the first two weeks of December. I'm swamped with what I want to do and other stuff that's been requested of me. I need to make certain other things perfect and continue writing what I'm writing. Yep, I have a goal and I'm not afraid to meet it. I just can't tell any of you what that goal is because I'm a secretive bitch (look up SCORPIO if you don't understand).

So, here we go. The contest isn't just extended a week. I realize that there are a lot of things in the contest that you may see upon your travels while holiday shopping. Grab that card, bitches, and head to the mall. Along your way, snap a picture.

The pictures will be due DECEMBER 31st at 11:59PM PST.

Also, you'll get a few more points if, on that day, you send me a picture of a birthday cake JUST for Joe. ;) Yes, you will get points and believe me, those points will boost your count and it will be worth your time.

The quote on the back of your card is also worth points. Mid-December I will tell you what you need to do to boost your point count using those quotes on the back.

I will have an updated score count probably tomorrow (Tuesday night) o r Wednesday night. Depending on what kind of time the children allow me. Plus, this writing thing... wow. Yeah, I have a lot of work to do, guys. You don't even know. Coming up with something super special for... well... Nikki (of WTOR fame).

Not nearly as much participation as I expected. :( I assume the rest have completely dropped out or aren't going to participate. Such is the way with these things. Seriously. Why say you wanna play if you're not gonna! I know things come up but... damn! I put a lot of work into this. :( The cards alone took me hours plus scrambling my brain to make up rhyming clues. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!!!

Remember, just the answers will get you one point for each riddle. So, pretty much, all of ya'll should have a minimum of 31 points :) If you answer something and it's wrong, don't fret! I'll respond and lead you in the right direction.

#FFC Post - Yes, I'm a hardass.

Hey ladies,

A few things I want to touch bases on. Some will be clarified later when I get home as I'm at work, on break and can't type about a few subjects here.

I've received a few pictures so far, and I love it! I love that I see what people have lying around the house ;) Seems that one answer is so popular at being first! Which I'll do a brief recap after the contest is over about the way this all went down from my point of view.

If I reject a photo, please don't take it personally. Some of the items are specific items that I've written about. And it's not just in my head, guys. But perhaps there is confusion about what things are or whatever.

I'm pretty sure that people have gotten the answer to one question specifically so later, I'll post about the differences in what I'm asking and what I'm getting. So far, I haven't gotten the correct picture for that item. I'm thinking a blog post is necessary.

And remember, if you take a picture in a sex shop, you'll have to be sneaky about it. It's against most stores' policies.

If you're that hard up for a photo of an item that's in the store, perhaps you can either a) buy it and take a picture of it or b) ask "Hey, I'm doing a scavenger hunt for this item but I don't want to purchase it. Is there anyway I can just take a picture?" Sometimes asking the clerk is better than trying to be sneaky. :)

And hey, if they ask what it's for, tell them. And perhaps drop a name and probe them to see if they'd carry such literature. LOL!

More on this topic later. :) I gotta do some work today in the office.

!! Feisty's Foto Contest Update !!

I'm so excited for the NaNo but I completely forgot about it since the photo contest took over my brain.

A little note about the contest:

If you can't find an item, you can improvise. Remember, I give points for creativity. If you have to "make" something out of something, please... go ahead and do so. :) Point values will be on the riddles when you receive them.

!! Feisty's Foto Contest Update !!

Hi!

First, let me reiterate. You are playing this game for a prize. The prize is a Freaky Temptation (book one of The Freaky Saga) printed and bound manuscript. The manuscript will be bound however the winner likes (eg: tape, coil, metal coil) and will be mailed to them soon after the winner is announced.

The winner will be announced December 13, 2010.

BASIC INFO

On Oct 18th, you will receive an email from feistytales@gmail.com that asks for your HOME address. Since you are playing for a printed and bound copy of the manuscript, if you win, you will need to provide your address anyway. I won't stalk you. I don't really care how you pick your nose on your couch or what you do in your kitchen at 2am.

When you send an email that includes your address, you will (hopefully instantly), receive an email that includes ONLY your alias. It may be one or two words. 3 to 5 days after that, you will receive an index card in the mail from ME! This card must be seen in every photo that you enter! The reason? So you can't steal from someone else or use something you found from the intrawebz.

On Nov 1, 2010 you will receive an email from feistytales@gmail.com containing 30 questions. The answer to those questions are the items that you must photograph, with your index card, and send to me. You need to have read the story to know the answers to these questions.

When sending the picture of the clue item, you must put the answer in the subject line or body of the email. If you got the answer to the question wrong, I'll probably reply with a "WTF is that?". This is why it's better to submit the photos as you go instead of all at once. If you have any re-do's you'll have the time to do it!

SCORING

  Each clue will be worth a set number of points. If you answer the question and don't send a picture, you will get credit for a correct answer (1 pt for each correct answer)

  If your photo is correct then you will receive additional points.

  There will be up to 3 bonus points awarded if I find the photo creative.

  Additional Photos - If you find something that was used in the story and it is not on the list, send it with a question of your own! If I think it's awesome, you may earn yourself more points!

  Name brand specific items - Some items that were chosen for the story are of a certain brand. Send what you can of the item and forget the name brand. I understand we have different availability here in Cali and the US than some other states and countries. However, if you DO find the name brand item and you can prove that it is that brand, you will earn additional points.

ALIASES

  Weekly, I will post scores for those that have submitted photos. I will use your alias. It is up to you to say "WOO HOO, I'm in the lead." But then you're exposed and your alias is busted. This doesn't disqualify you but it calls you out. Sometimes it's fun to have a secret :P
• 
  
  If I receive a picture that I think is extra awesome and feel that it deserves exposure, I will post it on the blog. The alias will be shown in the picture, obviously, so if you say "THAT'S MINE!", remember, you just outed yourself.

  By participating in this contest you give up the right to say, "I took that photo, you can't post it!"

Email that was sent to past and current readers

Hi!

Some of you I haven't contacted in a long time but I know that you were once on a mailing list of mine and have either received and read or just received the story Freaky Temptation.

This is an invitation to win a printed and bound original manuscript of the story. I'm going to go through the whole thing and attempt to clear any and all typos and mistakes before I print it out and bind it.

If you already know about the contest or have signed up, you may want to continue reading anyway just to get more info.

First, I have a story related blog: http://feistytales.blogspot.com. Some of this info is posted on there already. And some of it will be in a minute (going to copy/paste as soon as I'm done writing it.)

Second, Freaky Temptation held the interest of a lot of people. So if you just read that one story, there are two others completed and one other story in the works.

This contest will involve clues from all four parts of the saga so having read up to the current chapter is kind of key in this. There is a board where they are all posted. If you haven't read a story and you want to play with us then email me back and I'll email you a link to the board.

The jist of the contest?

You email me back that you're interested. Closer to 11/1/2010, I will contact you and ask for a mailing address (remember, you're playing to win a printed manuscript so if you won, I'd have to ask for that anyway. Don't worry, I won't stalk you in any other way except through GoogleMaps ;) ). Once you provide your mailing address to me, I will respond with a simple email that contains your alias for the game

Why provide your mailing address, you say? Because! I'm going to send you a card with your alias written on it.

On 11/1/2010, I will email you and provide clues for roughly 30 items. You then go out into the world and if you see said item, you place your card next to the item and snap a picture. Either use a camera phone or digital camera. You will then email that item to me (using the feistytales@gmail.com address).

Scoring is based on points. There may be more points awarded for creativity or accuracy of said item. And depending how hard the item is to find, it may be worth more points than another item.

The contest will run 30 days. So you have until 11/30/2010 to submit your entries. You can either submit as you go (which is easier if you have a camera phone) or you can upload them all at once.

Contest Idea!

I have an idea what we can do. Let me run this by you guys. Either answer on Twitter on here. :) Preferably on here so I can keep all the responses in one place. Though, I may serve up some copy/pasta for Tweets (this is your warning that if you tweet me in regards to this you're allowing me post your tweet here on this blog).

A photo scavenger hunt.

Each person will create a label with their code name given to you by yours truly. Size to be determined.

I will give you a list of items. You will then find that item, whether it's around your house or you're in WalMart or at the mall... When you find that item, you place your label next to it and snap a picture!

The person to gather the most items, wins. If you complete all items first before the time expires, then you win!

The items MUST be real items and not pictures of them. You have to be the one taking the picture. That's what the label is for, to prove that you're the one that took that picture. Do not lose the label. If the labels look different, then I'm going to assume you had other people looking out for you!

For example

ITEM: Zebra print pillow

Scenario: You're in Bed, Bath and Beyond (because, really, who can't spend 3 hours in that store?) and you spot a *gasp* zebra print pillow. You whip out your handwritten label and place it on the pillow. Take a picture! Upload the picture to me at a specialized email address! (If you took it with your digital camera and not your phone, then you'll put it on your computer first, obviously, then send it to me via email to that email address)

At the end of every week, I will post every one's progress using their code name. It's up to you if you want to share your name or not.

It'll be fun.

I can either do this or a trivia contest. I thought this would be fun though.

I would plan this for Nov 1st - Nov 30th. During that time I'm going to be writing on the NaNo and taking a hiatus from the Freaky saga. :)

Freaky Contest

I put feelers out there on Twitter about a contest to receive a printed and bound (which ever way the winner wishes) copy of Freaky Temptation. It won't be the whole saga but just the first story. It won't be the version I'm submitting to a publisher either. It will be the real deal, the stuff you've read in your emails, the stuff that you've read on the boards. It will have the real names of people and every thing. Nothing will be edited (except a final once over from me to make sure I've cleared out as many typos and errors as possible).

There was a suggestion of a trivia contest. Although, another author has done this before and I don't like to bite off of other people. Though, I don't think the reader that suggested it knew about the other contest.

I was going to make it simple as: Find a wedding dress for K to get married in and write a brief description of why that would be her dress.

I kinda like the trivia contest idea though, even though it's been done (and a nod to that author which I'm not sure I can mention because of certain circumstances but she knows who she is and she rocks it) because, like the reader mentioned, you'd have to read the story to win. You didn't just Goog-it-up and find something pretty. Though, I did say that you would have to give me reasoning behind your choice. But that sounds more like homework than fun. And instead of writing a 100 word essay (because only Joe gives out homework to win prizes), I want to do something fun.

Anyone have any ideas for a contest other than a trivia contest?

I'm excited because I want to see what this thing looks like in a bound format!! LOL :)

There may be more than one winner depending on what contest I choose to hold. Now? Just the time to actually write more... I'd like that. I know! I'll hold a contest and the winner can come out and take my kids from me and give me time to write this darn story! Howsat sound? A trip to California* and a chance to babysit my kids? You just want that, don't you?
